Course 4 Discussion 1: Realism & Fidelity
Make 1 discussion post to continue.
Make 1 discussion post to continue. For this discussion, you will reconsider your simulation plan. As in Course 2 this will be a unique, multiphase discussion. It remains an exercise in peer review. You will: Assess your pre-briefing and debriefing plans for your simulation plan related to realism and fidelity. Make some refinements based on what you have learned so far. Receive and supply suggestions among your peers. Refine your preparation based on the feedback that you have received. When you have completed this task, you will return to learn more in this course. Step 1: Simulation Summary: Remind Your Peers About Your Simulation: Review your proposed simulation. Provide the following in your initial post: A brief summary of the problem and scope of your simulation. List your expected outcomes. List your objectives. Step 2: Map Your Objectives: Map your objectives to needed realism. Explain how participants will apply their knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSAs) in their work environment. What key experiences do they need to have to be able to transfer their acquired skills? What problems can you foresee in matching the necessary realism? Step 3: Map Realism to Needed Levels of Fidelity: Map the realism to needed level of fidelity. For each KSA: What level of fidelity is required? What kind of fidelity is needed? (conceptual, psychological, emotional/experiential, functional) How will you meet these needs? Step 4: Peer Review: Share your plan with your Peers. Offer them feedback. Highlight some complications that you might have with the plan. What practices or details are they missing?

Make 1 discussion post to continue. As in Discussion 1, you will reconsider your simulation plan. It remains an exercise in peer review. You will: Assess your simulation plan. Make some refinements based on what you have learned so far. Receive and supply suggestions among your peers. Refine your preparation based on the feedback that you have received. When you have completed this task, you will return to learn more in this course. Step 1: Remind Your Peers About Your Simulation. Review your proposed simulation. Provide the following in your initial post: A brief summary of the problem and scope of your simulation. List your expected outcomes. List your objectives: You have already attended to the first three steps in Discussion 1. Just use your amended description to help your peers follow along with your process. Step 2: Describe Your Participants: Remember to consider education level and simulation experience Profile of a Novice - Needs - Concerns Profile of an Eexperienced Ppractitioner - Needs - Concerns Profile of an Eexpert- Needs - Concerns Step 3: Prescribe & Moulage to Augment Fidelity: You have addressed realism and fidelity. Now, you will prescribe & moulage & treatments to provide the needed level of fidelity. For each level of fidelity that you have identified, apply a recipe from the Moulage & Cookbook, or apply one of your own. Make sure to describe the equipment and others tools available in your setting. Give each other a clearer picture of what your participants learners will encounter and how. Also, describe how your selected recipes facilitate the suspension of disbelief. Step 4: Peer Review: Provide high-quality feedback to your peers by: Reviewing their moulage & prescriptions. Offer suggestions to help them firm up their treatment. Discuss some restrictions that you might encounter meeting the requirement levels described. And, definitely add any experiences that you have had with moulage and its effects, either as a facilitator or participant. Step 5: Update Your Simulation Plan: Based on the feedback that you have received and your own knowledge acquisition, update your simulation plan related to fidelity.

Course 4 Learning Theory and Fidelity Assignment
Graded as Complete/Incomplete | Due Date: 10/31/2024 at 7:59 PM (EDT)
Graded as Complete/Incomplete | Due Date: 10/31/2024 at 7:59 PM (EDT) To complete each course, you are required to provide a reflective journal entry. Each entry should contain a minimum of 500 words. The document submitted should be a cumulative document with headings and dates of the course journals you are submitting. Reflection should consider this process: • Description (keep this fairly short) • Interpretation or analysis (this should be the main body of your work) • Outcome or application (ensure you draw clear application to your future practice). There are journal prompts for most course journals. These are intended to focus you on the materials that were covered in that module. Please note that some journals will have a Part I and a Part II because of the varied materials that are presented in that course. By the end of the ISEP program, your reflective journal will demonstrate your individual learning and progress as a simulation educator/practitioner.
