Course 11 Discussion 1: Apply Swiss Cheese
Make 1 discussion post to continue.
Make 1 discussion post to continue. Apply what you learned from the "Just Another Operation" video as you participate in this discussion of the Swiss Cheese Model. Part 1: Identify the Sentinel Event- For your initial post: Identify instances in the video that could have led to a negative outcome? Use the Swiss Cheese Model to map the sentinel event or death of the patient. Part 2: Barriers to Sentinel Event- At this juncture, read your peers & posts. Select a couple that resonate with you. Offer the following perspectives: Identify segments of the video that represent appropriate and inappropriate interprofessional practice? Use the Swiss Cheese Model to map the actions that produced barriers to a sentinel event or death.

Course 11 Discussion 2: Augment Your Scenario
Make 1 discussion post to continue.
Make 1 discussion post to continue. You have already considered the experience of integrating interprofessional education in your opening journal entry and discussed the realities of interprofessional teams in professional practice. As in Course 10, this discussion is a final opportunity for peer review prior to Course 12. Part 1: Augment Your Current Plan- Use what you have learned in this course to revisit your simulation plan and construct an addendum that includes the interprofessional roles. Identify the practitioner(s) you will need. Specialties like: Certified Nurse Practitioners; Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists; Certified Nurse Midwives; Certified Nurse Specialists; Practitioners from other disciplines: Pharmacists; Surgeons Social Workers; Emergency Medical teams; Dietary; And many more. Map out the design team that will work on this integration and the assistance you hope to receive from each member. Highlight additions or changes you will need to make in the following areas? Learning Objectives, Make sure to consider different knowledge and skill levels as well as incorporating nursing specialties. Typically IPE experiences will need different learning objectives. Consider what that might look like by creating at least 2 IPE related learning objectives for your scenario. Preparation and Prebriefing, Debriefing, Fidelity, Evaluation, and Facilitator preparation. Part 2: Help Your Peers At this juncture, read your peers & posts. Select a couple for which you can offer some guidance. Look at their scenarios from all points of view of the design team. Offer the following feedback: Are there other design team members they should consider? What corrections or additions should they consider in terms of the changes they have highlighted? Learning Objectives, Preparation and Prebriefing, Debriefing, Fidelity, Evaluation, and Facilitator preparation. As you have throughout this entire program, offer the assistance that would also best benefit you.
Course 11 Assignment
Graded as Complete/Incomplete | Due Date: 10/31/2024 at 7:59 PM (EDT)
Graded as Complete/Incomplete | Due Date: 10/31/2024 at 7:59 PM (EDT) To complete each course, you are required to provide a reflective journal entry. Each entry should contain a minimum of 500 words. The document submitted should be a cumulative document with headings and dates of the course journals you are submitting. Reflection should consider this process: • Description (keep this fairly short) • Interpretation or analysis (this should be the main body of your work) • Outcome or application (ensure you draw clear application to your future practice). There are journal prompts for most course journals. These are intended to focus you on the materials that were covered in that module. Please note that some journals will have a Part I and a Part II because of the varied materials that are presented in that course. By the end of the ISEP program, your reflective journal will demonstrate your individual learning and progress as a simulation educator/practitioner.
